I think I should feed my daughter vegetables for breakfast. Maybe she'll figure out that she likes them ... and it would make me eat more of them, too! :) You sound AMAZING.

No hummus? Oh that is so sad. But I guess if you're feeling great it's worth the sacrifice. Pretty sure I couldn't give it up though.

Congrats on twenty days of non-smoking! My sister keeps trying to quit, too.

Good luck with abstaining. It's really, really, really tough. I find myself bargaining with myself sometimes - telling myself this time will be different, that I won't go crazy on the cereal or eat the tortillas two or three at a time. Sometimes are better than others, and sometimes I can control myself. But until I get to the bottom of my emotional food issues, it's easier to not have these things in the house. If I binge, I binge on what's here - fruits, veggies, greek yogurt, meat. Products made with flour (and the refined sugar that's usually mixed with it) have a ton of calories and they add up quickly. 500 calories of cookies is only two or three - and a binge is never two or three. It's going to take a mountain of broccoli to make 500 calories.

Of course, my long-term/maintenance logic is based on something you wrote a few months ago - I have it written down verbatim somewhere, but essentially it was like, some days you choose the carrot, some days you choose the cupcake. It's all about finding a balance that works for you. For me, that means mostly avoiding these trigger foods until I find a way to incorporate them into my life in a healthy way.

My goodness I miss Cheerios. I miss them more than chocolate and ice cream and bread. A Cheerio-free morning has been the biggest adjustment for sure.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, and for your nice comment! And wow, what an impressive endeavor you're undertaking! I did some reading about the Whole30, prompted by your blog ... I am probably in need of detox myself. I don't know what we'd do in this house without grains, meat, or legumes. There would be mutiny, I am sure. (Especially if there were no Cheerios.) I'm in awe!!

It absolutely helps to know that I'm not alone. We all need that sometimes, you know?

I know what you mean! It's good that we're learning how to live in a world without needing to log calories all the time.

Good for you! I've recently thought about deleting, mostly because...I don't use it any more. I used it to lose weight after E, and I did that, and now I'd like to think, thanks to that, I have a better idea of what I'm eating without needing it. I agree with you, it is very helpful, though, when you need it.

I like that idea of thinking of will power as a muscle. Mine definitely needs some major toning that's for sure. I also struggle with the all or nothing mindset. When I screw up everything tends to go out the window.

That was probably not at all helpful but at least you know you're not alone?

I think that's what I might have to do. So long, sugar! You've been delicious and detrimental.
