About

I grew up in Florida and spent the better part of twenty-three years in the same, small town (Inverness, for the detail-oriented). In 2006 I met a boy online and fell in love with him; in 2007 I moved to Southern Oregon and married him.

In the process, I lost myself. I don’t mean that positively. I gained 40 pounds, stopped going to church, and was leading a generally unhealthful life in almost every aspect. Things have started to look up: we’ve found a church we like; we’re climbing out of debt; I’m slowly (like, s-l-o-w-l-y) losing weight (halfway done losing the weight I gained when I moved here, so hooray for that).

I started this blog in June of 2010 but did very little to actually maintain it. I would post occasionally, but the entries lacked substance. They were mainly comprised of what I ate and how much I weighed, and while those are all well and good, they weren’t good enough for me. While I do want to lose weight, this is about more than that. It’s about finding a balance between the carrot and the cupcake; it’s about learning to manage my resources more effectively: time, money, energy.

I blog about my life, which is comprised of my husband, Jason, and our dog, Hurley. I take lots of pictures of my dog. It’s shameful, really.

I tweet; I flickr. Emails can be directed to dashleysteele@gmail.com. Happy reading!
